What to include in your website – legalities

Have you read our other posts on what to include in your website? You also need to be aware that there are legal considerations to take into place when designing a website.  Legally companies in the UK must state their company registration number clearly on their site, the place of registration and a registered office address.  If the company is being wound up this also needs to be placed on the website.

It is important to have a privacy policy in line with the Data Protection Act and only collect information that is needed from your customer online.  Customers need to be aware of any information that you will collect and this information should be kept securely.  You should only share information with consent, you can find out more about this by visiting the Information Commissioner’s Office website at www.ico.gov.uk . The bottom of every page on your website is an excellent place to place the information that is legally required.
