Selling Online 3: What’s Your Problem?

When you are selling your products and services online you shouldn’t just write copy about what you do. Instead, focus on their needs. Use your website to ask your customers about the problems they experience and explain the solutions you offer. Online polls can make customers feel like they are being listened to. Web pages set up to focus on solutions to their problems can rank well on search engines for key phrases. Look into whether people are searching on, ‘cures for acne’ or ‘how do I cure my acne’ or ‘help with spots’ and create pages accordingly.

Get in touch with the emotions that you want your customer to feel. A mother buying a baby carrier is more likely to be persuaded if your website tells her how babies who are carried are happy than if you point out the ways that the carrier ties. Think about how this might alter your ‘sales pitch’.
